This is my 1970, Grand Prix SJ. It is a numbers matching unit with several
unigue and rare options for the model. This car started lie in Texas, then
on to Calif. where two individuals took turns restoring the car, as many
miles has passed by then. They took a Best of Class at the Long Beach POCI
Western Nationals. But as things go she ended up in a Classic car consignment
showroom in the Sacrmento area. A guy from Chicago bought it and detailed it,
and she was shown in "Muscle Car" magazine in Dec-Jan, 1996. The guy went
broke, and the car hit the auction circuit, going to Hot August Nights in
Reno. Where one Mr. Reggie Jackson purchsed the car. Some years later it was
back up at auction at HAN's again, where a friend of mine saw it and made a
deal with the owner for several cars, after the auction. The GP was one of
them. He wanted my just finished 62 Catalina 421 tri-power, (clone) real
bad so a deal was struck. I've owned the car for 2 years now and have done
some cosmetic repairs only. I did do a time only at the 1/4 mile in SLC,
and best in street atire, except for borrowed slicks, ran 13-15 @ 109mph.
Details of this car are as follows, and all are PHS documented, I have
factory order, build sheet, and original window sticker. 1970 Grand Prix, SJ,
M21 4 spd. code 'WG' 455cu/HO, 370hp, at 4600 rpm, 500lb-ft of torque at
3100rpm, AC, Pwr str. pwr disc brakes, AM/FM/8trk, LeMans Sport package,
included, rally str. whl. sport seat covers (as in GTO's), Special trac loc
rear with 3.31:1. The car is one of 199 GP's equiped with the 455/M21 combo,
fewer came with AC, 17 to be exact, and only one was painted Cardinal Red,
with the Frost White vinyl top. So it's not a GTO, or A formula T/A.......
Who Cares!
It is one fine classy Muscle Car. And it's mine now!
